Kona Oceanfront Gallery, formerly Wyland Gallery, hosted its largest fine art event of the year — 30 Big Island artists showcasing their latest works. The event attracted more than 500 people to the Saturday night show.
This year marked the gallery’s fifth annual Best of the West art contest where the public voted for its favorites. The top vote getters were: first, Alex Gupton; second, Doug Perrine; third, Daniel Moe; fourth, Ernest Young; fifth, Robert Thomas; sixth, Dave Golston; seventh, Penny Gupton; eighth, Esther Szegedy; ninth, Mary Ellen Clagget; and 10th, Brad “Tiki Shark” Parker.
Other artists featured at the event included Scott Hanson, Rod Crisp, Christian LaCuesta, Dave Reisland, Tom Pendergrass, Mark Tomczak, Ben Raquinio, Shelly Batha, Diane Tunnell, Barry Lozier, Nancy Kell and Tim and Genevieve Golen, Jerremy Hicks, Kira Kamamalu, Nancy Kell, Judith Kunzel, Barry Lozier, Jill Maki, Maya Soaringson, Anna Sullivan, Kris T., Lynn Vanleeuwan, Ernest Young and William Wingert.
